Field Notes

Description:

Southern Swallowtail at Spartochori on Meganisi. There were several flying and nectaring on small thistle-type flowers. They seemed much smaller than the usual swallowtail size. Is there an island sub-species here?

Habitat:

Flowery roadside leading out of Spartochori

Notes:

Species also seen on the same day in same location: Scarce Swallowtail, Meadow Brown, Southern Comma, Small White, Large White, Cleopatra, Southern White Admiral, Orange Tip, Wall Brown, Lattice Brown, Small Heath, Brown Argus, Common Blue, Clouded Yellow, Lulworth Skipper, Eastern Dappled White - sorry I can provide latin names if required. I can provide photos if required. Chris Tracey
