Field Notes

Description:

This young bug disguised itself as a dead leaf on a trashbag. Not sure what family it comes from. maybe 2 cm from head to tail. Colors were green brown and yellow.

west central ga

@Sukanyadatta -- it did not move itself. It was on a trash bag being used as a cover for an electrical component over Halloween... so I had to move it to a nearby plant when we cleaned up. It definitely was not secured to the bag (I thought some sort of pupa or cocoon too at first), and with gentle prodding it climbed onto the pine straw itself, at which point I moved it to a nearby shrub.
Very interesting...in the first photo I thought it was a pupa...I could not make out the 'bug' very well in the last shot though. Did it move?
