Description:

Mostly dull dark brown with a long glittering violet-blue ear-tuft and contrasting whitish malar streak.

Habitat:

Though basically a forest hummingbird, favoring canopy and borders, more numerous on the Andes west slope. Mostly 1.000-2.000 m.
