Field Notes

Description:

Black with two white spots on sides of thorax.

Habitat:

Usually found on the edges of forest.

Notes:

A ground nesting wasp. Lays an egg on one caterpillar.

I spotted another thread waisted wasp about ten feet away from this location on July 12 th. Ammophilia procera. It was carrying a very similar green caterpillar.
