Description:

The Mountain Clouded Yellow is a high altitude species in the genus Colias which is found in the Cantabrian Mountains, the Pyrenees, the Carpathian Mountains and the Alps. First appearance on Project Noah for this species listed as Near Threatened by the IUCN.

Habitat:

Alpine meadow with short grass and flowers. Alt. 2000 m.

Notes:

This butterfly is found in small isolated mountain areas, generally flying above 1800 m.
Host plants for the caterpillar are Lotus corniculatus, Trifolium repens and Hippocrepis comosa.
