Field Notes

Description:

I saw this at Pagham Harbour, it was on a leaf just below a Comma butterfly. I've checked the larvae for the Comma and it doesn't match. It would be great if anyone out there knows what it is and can let me know.

Species ID Suggestions

Knotgrass Moth

Acronicta rumicis

Wonderful photo :) Welcome to Project Noah. I look forward to your future postings. Even though you do not have an ID for this caterpillar, it needs to be in the arthropod category. Do you know the kind of leaf it was munching? Knowing the host plant helps narrow the search for those of us who do not live in the UK.
