Field Notes

Habitat:

There are two large waterbodies (almost lakes) nearby. There are some indigenous fish species here. Every monsoon these lakes overflow and fish can be seen in the rainwater drains that run along the sides of the houses nearby. Pond herons and other birds can be seen very near the houses, feasting on the fishes. Snakes too. This Tilapia was spotted in one such rainwater drain. It kept close to the surface maybe because of a lack of oxygen in the water.
