Field Notes

Description:

This was a very happy nightingale taking a morning sand/sun bath.
These birds are 13.5 to 16 cm. The adult has olive- brown upperparts, a grey crown, paler grey underparts, becoming whitish on the belly, and an olive breast band. Its bill is black.The juvenile is darker on the head and underparts, has a brown breast band, and the belly is marked with brown.

Habitat:

Paraiso Quetzal. San Gerardo de Dota/Cerro de la Muerte.

Thanks beaker and staccyh! yes, it was lovely to see this bird enjoy the sand bath. It also reminded of the sparrows I used to see in my country, doing the same :-)
