Field Notes
Description:
Broadly convex, yellow-reddish cap surface radially streaked with yellow and brown tinges. Gills black with spores, with pale edges. Stem is 5 to 10cm tall; with a ring zone of pale fibres stained black by falling spores. Grows in clusters.
Habitat:
Seen close to the path through small woods in a protected wetland area; path connecting two bigger ponds. This protected marsh (Etournel) is in Geneva lake valley.
Notes:
If my identification is correct, this mushroom is edible when young, needs to be cooked quickly after harvest, and is of medium quality.
