Irish, I have not seen this beautiful spider in our place. I'm tempted to have it shipped here! Beautiful specimen
this spider is locally known in my place as "king na lawa". I am from Surigao, Philippines..We have same spiders...
Same species as another spotting in the Philippines too. http://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/6307420 Except that I don't think it is a Gasteracantha janopol because it does not match the description of Gasteracantha janopol written in "Riceland Spiders of South and Southeast Asia".
Micrathena was actually on my list as well and I am still not sure...
Wow!!! What an amazing spider... To me looks like Micrathena sp. but i'm not sure
Remembers me of a Gasteracantha sp., but I am not sure if it is Gasteracantha arcuata, which is quite common.
can you help me identify the insects in my flickr photoset? thanks!!! http://www.flickr.com/photos/carmelobayarcal/sets/72157624206785585/
