Description:

Nice portrait of an awesome dragonfly, a male. I saw two of them on a forest path, very comfortable and not scared, returning to the same twig each time and giving me the opportunity to take macro shots.

Thank you very much DrNamgyalT.Sherpa! I know what you mean with having only a phone camera with you, I had a couple of occasions where I could only use my Nokia N8, which has an excellent camera but sometimes (birds) it's not enough to cover the distance. These shots are also handheld, as I don't carry the tripod with me in the forest. I walk through the forest with my 100-400mm on the camera and the 100mm macro on my belt. I first shoot with the big lens, if like in this case with the skimmers there is a chance to get closer I change the lens and shoot macro...

Great spotting and great macro work. I've shots of the same skimmers but with my Samsung Galaxy S3, that too hand held. My macro was was some 170km away at home! I liked the shot. Compliments.

Thank you Gilma. I would love to teach photography, certainly to dedicated students, as it is my passion since long time. Unfortunately I stay in Thailand which is not even close to Costa Rica :)
