Antheraea polyphemus

Challenging me to take these photos, this large moth... an Antheraea polyphemus, live as an adult for about seven days, because they have no mouth and exist only to breed. I suspect this is a female, because it flitted from branch and leaf quickly probably laying eggs. So, really exciting opportunity to see this one. The eye spots give it its name – from the Greek myth of the Cyclops Polyphemus. ‪This was at the newly establish West Ridge Nature Preserve.
