Field Notes

Description:

Most red foxes are some shade of yellowish red. There is usually a trace of black in the fur of the middle of the back and in the bushy tail, and the feet and outer side of the tips of the ears are black.

Habitat:

Red foxes occupy a variety of habitats throughout Minnesota, but prfer semi-open country to continuous forest.

Notes:

Family of red foxes lives on Tamarac Refuge between North Cotton Lake Rd and Cotton Lake, not too far from the boat landing. They have been seen eating ducks and rabbits.
