Field Notes

Description:

1 1/2 inches. Cylindrical. Head and body orange; abdomen long, with black and yellow bars; horny plate at end. Wings blackish to yellowish. Female has long ovipositor (not stinger) that deposits eggs deep into wood that larvae eat.
