Field Notes

Description:

The common yellowthroat is a small warbler. Males have a distinctive black mask, which is bordered above with a white band. Yellow underparts.

Habitat:

Spotted at the Green River Natural Resources Area in Kent, Washington. Found in an area with lots of low lying dense vegetation.

One of my favorites. Each field on our rural road has a pair during summer. Lots of song and activity But you got a great shot!

Thank you very much Watson5 for the kind words. There was a nest nearby and he and a female didn't travel very far. So I just waited until I had opportunity to take a picture. It took a while and was rather difficult. I'll post a picture of the female soon.
