Description:
Medium sized, tan with dark spots, light underbelly. Dry bumpy skin. The American Toad can be distinguished from the similar looking Fowler's Toad by the number of warts in the largest dark spots. American Toads have only one or two per large spot while Fowler's Toads have more than three per large dark spot. American Toads have two subspecies, the more common is the Eastern American Toad (this spotting is one of these).
Habitat:
Bordering temperate forest habitat. Blydenburgh County Park, NY.
Notes:
This one was about half grown.
