Description:
Locally known as 'Fratar' (meaning 'Friar' or 'Monk'), this is a common seabream in Adriatic sea, smaller species such as these preferring to stay close to shores. All presented specimens were between 5cm in length, up to 15cm. They shows a typical seabream body, flattened sideways; and silvery grey with two well defined black vertical bands. Most often, we observed it alone or in shoals with other Seabreams (Sparidae family).
Habitat:
This summer, we observed these in every place we went for swim or dive. They were always close to rocky shores, preferring rocky, algae covered bottoms of up to 20m of depth.
