Field Notes

Description:

Attractive, striped, lily-like flowers; five on a tall stalk. The stripes are alternately wine pink and white. The tall bloom stalk is about 20 inches or so above the elongated leaves .

Habitat:

Urban garden

Notes:

I originally got these bulbs from a plant growing wild in a government colony ( maybe it was part of a garden once.) and planted it in this garden. The first photo was taken a day or so earlier, but the remaining three are just a few minutes apart when I was stalking a blue butterfly. I feel I "saw" the petals unfurl. Also called: Ceylon swamplily, Pink striped trumpet lily and Sukh (happiness-)-darshan (to see) in Bangla.
