Field Notes

Habitat:

moist area near oak woodland

Notes:

This is a subspecies of the Western Toad It was observed nestled into a moist little area near an oak woodland. I also commonly see it at night hopping over leaf litter. When I picked it up, it urinated and gave out a distress call like the peeping of a chick. I don't say this about most creatures, but it looked really sad. It's "warts" produce a mildly toxic fluid.
