Description:
Family: Saturniidae, Subfamily: Ceratocampinae. Royal Silkworm Moth. Length: 20-35 mm. This female is large at 35 mm. Sexually dimorphic. Russet FW of female has a pink outer margin beyond PM line. Round white reniform spot. Abdomen and thorax is bright orange. Very fuzzy. Hosts: Red oak.
Habitat:
Woodlands, yards, wherever host tree is found.
Notes:
Came to front porch light.
