oops i meant luisstevens, could you move it to bugs category
@Cindy: They checked the wtb link and added some links. In my eyes all of them are Chromacris colorata. http://www.whatsthatbug.com/2013/09/28/horse-lubber-mexico/ http://www.pbase.com/tmurray74/image/35764781 http://www.flickr.com/photos/johnbokma/2404967974/ http://orthoptera.speciesfile.org/Common/basic/Taxa.aspx?TaxonNameID=1116124
Yes! They are! (gafanhoto-soldado, soldadinho ou brasileirinho) Maybe I got confused between one species or another (speciosa or psittacus). Here is the link for my blog http://www.lifeinlog.org and here is my related spotting: http://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/38449714 I'm sorry I have not posted before.
OK, Leonardo, give us your picture and link of your blog, please! Yours might be Chromacris speciosa or Chromacris psittacus. I think you call them Soldier Grasshopper...
Unbelievable! I have an almost identical version of this, but mine is green with yellow (I wrote a bit about them on my blog recently). Genial! Nature is perfect! Thank you very much for sharing this, Luis! ;)
Thanks, Cindy, correction is done... http://www.whatsthatbug.com/2013/09/28/horse-lubber-mexico/#comment-232673
Good job bayucca. You should log in to the link I provided and give them feedback.
Thank you Bayucca for the ID and the links.
Romaleidae, Romaleinae, Romaleini, Chromacris sp. and most probably Chromacris colorata. http://orthoptera.speciesfile.org/Common/basic/Taxa.aspx?ExpandImages=1 http://www.flickr.com/photos/9569551@N04/2404967974 https://id.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Berkas:Chromacris_sp_1.jpg http://www.flickr.com/photos/kadjars/8457765086/ http://www.flickr.com/photos/27026445@N06/10362349366
