Field Notes
Description:
Tan snake with brown "hershey kiss" shaped patterns on either side of the body. This little guy still has remnants of his green tail. Babies are born with green tails to help them learn how to hunt. They bury their body in the leaves and stick up the green tip of the tail and wiggle it around like a worm. An interested lizard or frog comes to eat the "worm", but instead gets eaten by the snake.
Habitat:
Found crossing the road at night in an oak forest.
