Field Notes

Description:

At first glance, this little moth looked just like a dry spot of the leaf. The picture doesn't quite show it, but it was very well camouflaged. It measured about 7-8mm from head to the tip of the hind wings, with a somewhat irregular outline, and colouration in shades of pale purple and various browns. Although I went to this place on a regular basis, I only this species once.

Habitat:

Rainforest around Lake Eacham in the Atherton Tablelands, in Far North Queensland, Australia.
