Field Notes

Description:

A green caterpillar feeding on leaves of early goldenrod (Solidago juncea).

Habitat:

An old field with plenty of goldenrod plants.

Notes:

Thin red stripe and white stripe along the first three segments after the head. Three pale green stripes along the sides of the body. Pale green dots on the body segments, each with a small dark center. A few sparse hairs along the back. Overall body color is green.
