Field Notes

Description:

Looks like an Egret, but with black stripes over the eyes.

Habitat:

Sungei Buloh Wetland , mangrove area Singapore. Late morning.

Notes:

This lovely bird was perked on top of a mangrove tree.

The bird isn't white though it does appear a little pale. It is definitely a Grey Heron.
Thanks for all your suggestions. I checked the Grey Heron on line it looks very similar except that they are really grey and this one was mostly white. Do they come in a white variety at a certain time of their lifespan?

I thought they were called plumes. Aren't lores in front of the eyes not behind?
