Field Notes

Description:

The species Desmia funeralis is called the Grape Leaf Folder while the species Desmia Maculalis is called the Grape Leaf Roller. These two species can not be differentiated by photos only.

Found on porch by light at night. I went back inside to get my camera. When I returned he was gone. I assumed he just flew off somewhere. The next morning he was found on the carpet inside the house. He must have followed me inside. Once I took the photos, I returned him outside and put him on a plant. In an hour he was gone.

Habitat:

Back yard of a house with lots of flowers and plants.

Notes:

Identified by Metrioptera on Bugguide.net

Ok Bayucca, thanks!! Joe
You also may take Desmia funeralis/maculalis as scientific names. That would be easier for the search engines, indicating this is a "double" species. But your ID is correct.
