Description:

The Großer Trägrüssler belongs to the family of weevils (Curculionidae), and to the genus Liparus. It's most distinctive traits are a rounded, smooth black body, a strongly extended rostrum (snout) and golden/yellowish specks on it's carapace. With a length of 17 to 21 mm, it is one of the largest native weevils.

Habitat:

Mountain areas, forests, orchards and wet meadows.

Notes:

The weevils are represented by 40,000 to 60,000 species worldwide. Around 1200 species have been reported in Central Europe.
