Field Notes

Description:

Immature Yucatan Jays have a yellow bill that turns black in adults.

Notes:

Nearly 100 of these jays were flying around in the trees outside my room at a large touristy resort. This picture was taken from inside my room, with the sliding doors open.

There are a few small white marks around the eyes. The young immature jays have an almost all white head and when it becomes fully mature the head and bill turn totally black.
Is it just me or are there white things around it's eye? Great photo!
