Field Notes

Description:

Interesting observed behavior on these spiders. There were at least four of these guys. They were all congregating around a small hole in the dirt. They would run around towards this area. One or two of them would defend the area by kicking the other spiders with a leg or two. Perhaps males fighting for a female? Very small spiders. Dark thorax and upper parts of legs. Abdomen has light patterning with a diamond shape in the middle. From the first "knee" down, legs are red.

Habitat:

Suburban yard.
