Field Notes

Description:

An American alligator at the Sedgwick County Zoo. I've already uploaded an albino alligator spotting, but this is a normal one. Alligators are awesome and powerful creatures, but are much tamer than their Asian and Oceanic counterparts. Most alligators are content to bask and simply hiss at you for being too close than they are to chomp you and death roll you into a watery grave. Not that they won't do that, they totally will. Respect nature. Also according to all the boat tours I took in the Everglades they like marshmallows.

Habitat:

Found in the Southeastern US. Florida comes to mind, of course.
