Field Notes

Description:

2.5 to 3 feet long (not inches!!)
No obvious "head"
Seems to have a ridge down its back

Habitat:

Found on a road that is a few hundred yards from the forest and marsh bordering the Wando River in Mount Pleasant, SC.

Notes:

Was dead when found, probably hit by a car.

I don't believe it was a skeleton. The little protrusions definitely appeared to be legs. The body was pretty much intact (it wasn't the inside of an animal, it was the outside - skin, legs). So good thought but I don't think it was a snake skeleton. Would love to know what it is.
Looks to be the skeleton of a snake, and if so then should be in the reptiles category, not arthropods.
