I found this... cocoon? gall? on a tiny branch. It had openings surrounded with spikes in both sides, fore and aft. With a gentle persuasion I was able to see what was inside... (pics #3 and #4)
....sorry, can't stop looking at it ! the spikes on the ? gall/cocoon appear at random which makes me think it's part of the wood. do you know what tree/shrub this was on ? I do hope you find out what it is...
that's an alien !! Fantastic photos, Sergio. I assume it's a caterpillar emerging from the hole. It's interesting how the waxy substance that looks like a coating around the ? cocoon goes right round the twig (pic #2) .
