Yellow Toadflax
Linaria vulgaris
41.624, -73.4014
Field Notes
Description:
This plant was about 2 feet tall and had little branching. The alternate leaves were distributed around the central stem. The flowers, which are distributed around the raceme, were about 3 cm long and consisted of a tubular corolla with a pale yellow upper lip and an orange-yellow lower lip.
Habitat:
I spotted this plant in a meadow - this was the last one left as I had noticed at least 6 Linaria vulgaris plants in this area during the month of September.
Notes:
This plant usually flowers mid-summer to early fall. November is usually a bit late to see it in Connecticut, but it was a nice surprise!
