Field Notes

Description:

This is a small-sized heron, with a deep blue body, and darker neck and head, as pictured.

Habitat:

This bird was spotted in the northern part of Everglades National Park in Florida. The surrounding area was swamp and marsh, affording shallow waters through which the heron can wade and feed upon small fish and other creatures.

Notes:

The bird was very deliberate in its wading and feeding habits. It was very patient, standing motionless in shallow water for extended periods awaiting easy feeding opportunities for small fish.

Uh Oh...thanks Ashley! I deleted the first.
Your first photo is a tricolored heron, but your last two are indeed little blues :)
