4.23754, 118.637
Field Notes
Description:
A pair of Ribbon Eels - Rhinomuraena quaesita.
They have 3 phases :
- black/yellow during juvenile phase
- blue/yellow during male phase
- fully yellow during female phase
The picture shows a slightly bigger male slowly changing to female phase, with yellow colouration on the body.
Habitat:
Sandy or Coral rubbles bottom in tropical waters, usually seen singularly in holes.
Notes:
The day before, I was shown this 2 Ribbon Eels at the House Reef of the Resort I was staying at, but they were not occupying the same hole and was around 2 meters apart. I had hope to see them in the same hole together, so I went back to see them the next day and found them together :)
