Description:

The Garden Tiger Moth has a chocolate-brown, furry body, brown- and white-patterned forewings, and bright red hindwings with four or five large black spots.

Habitat:

These moths are most common in June to August, in gardens, park, meadows, grasslands, and scrubby areas.

Notes:

I found this moth in Utah but was getting most of the information about if from British sites - The garden tiger moth is protected in the UK under the Biodiversity Action Plan (BAP).Its numbers in the UK have declined by 89% over the past 30 years.
