Field Notes

Description:

I went downstairs, at around 8:30 a.m. in the morning. My grandson told me, that there was a butterfly on the ceiling. I looked up, and yes, there was a butterfly, resting on the ceiling. Also, I saw this butterfly, resting on the kitchen floor. I saw this butterfly, resting on one of the kitchen cabinet doors. I saw this butterfly, resting on the food pantry door. Etc. After about an hour, I was able to capture this butterfly, and then to set it free. The name of this butterfly is, " The Common Buckeye Butterfly ".

Habitat:

This butterfly, inhabits a wide variety of open, sunny landscapes, including old fields, roadsides, utility corridors, gardens, parks, yards, fallow agriculture land, scrubs, pine savannas, and weed lots.

Notes:

I spotted this butterfly, resting on the kitchen ceiling, at around 8:30 a.m. in the morning.
