Field Notes

Description:

A beautiful yellow Hesoeridae in the Firetip family. This butterfly settles in the same place once it finds a place to imbibe minerals from the damp soil, making it quite easy to photograph.

Habitat:

Beside a stream in Neo-tropical forest, elevation between 400-1800 metres in the eastern Andes.
