Red-winged Blackbird
Agelaius phoeniceus
33.7825, -117.229
Field Notes
Habitat:
Lakeshore
Notes:
This common blackbird can be seen at marshes and lakes throughout North America. I have woken up at campouts to flocks of hundreds of these birds flying out of the reeds. They have a metallic and gurgling call that sounds like “Conkaree!” The similar Tricolored Blackbird has white instead of yellow on the wings.
