Field Notes

Description:

Barnacle fossils or at least impressions of them.

Habitat:

Found at Fossil Beach, where you can find fossils on the cliff faces, on rocks on the ground, and even embedded in the massive stone that you walk on at the sides of the beach. This area is known to paleontologists as the Narrow Cape Formation which has fossils as far back as the Neogene period (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Neogene). I have also found clam, mussel, and echinoderm fossils at this location.
