Field Notes

Description:

Small moth spotted at the gas station. Its out-flung arms caught my eye ... once I had it identified, turns out it's typical of this moth, along with its odd, lumpy head. Beautiful pattern on edges of closed wings. So-so photo quality.

Thank you, Martha, they are rather wonderful. Terrible photo, though, and I haven't run across another ... still looking.
These are also so pretty and unique!
Thanks, James. Not great pic, but an interesting creature. I was just happy to have a couple postings for ... MOTH WEEK!
Fascinating...what a curious creature. Thanks!
