Field Notes

Description:

Very small outgrowths of tiny white cup shapes within a clear jelly. Each group was about 15mm wide so the cups might be about 3-4mm

Habitat:

Forming on the trunk of a very wet Nothofagus in a rainforest nature reserve

Notes:

Yet to identify this. Might be too undeveloped for a firm ID.

Thanks for the suggestion Saturniidae27 You can have all the oysters Neil.
Palates change with age, so sago pudding might be delicious. Things I loathed as a child are favourites now (oysters, olives, blue cheese...yum!). Spicy sago with rice sounds divine!
Same Neil, looks a lot like sago. In India we make sago spiced up with a slightly fried rice, and a load of spices :-)
Cool spotting, Mark. This reminds me of the sago pudding my Mum would make for us when we were kids. I'm sure she was trying to punish us, cos I hated it :(
