Field Notes

Description:

White cocoon 4cm probably a moth. The owner had already emerged.

Habitat:

Savannah Kimberley Grassland/woodland Host plant unknown.

When I had a close look I could see the dark and pried it open to see that it was empty and that there was the remains of a chrysalis inside.
That seems quite large for a cocoon and it's taken in many leaves. Also a curious shaped 'exit' hole. Wonder what it could be.
