Field Notes

Description:

Fungi! This little patch of rust-brown fuzz was about 30mm deep, length 40cm, varying slightly in colour through orange, brown, silver. Matted hair-like threads seemed to have occasional white sporangia but not always on the on tips? (pic5)

Habitat:

On the underside of a wet eucalyptus log.

Notes:

This is the visible part of the hyphae of a boring looking inky-cap style fungus. http://bie.ala.org.au/species/Coprinellus+radians#
Spiky version here http://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/393626058
Maybe synonymous with C domesticus http://www.mushroomexpert.com/coprinellus_domesticus.htmlhttp://www.mus…
