Field Notes

Description:

Small hopper of about 6mm from head to the tip of the abdomen. Underside is white, while the top is mainly black with red spots on head, thorax, and wings. Hind legs have two rows of spines and are used for jumping. Like other Hemipterans, they have piercing-sucking mouthparts and feed on the sap of plants.

Habitat:

Found in tropical rainforest around Laguna Miramar in Chiapas, Mexico.
