Thank you so much! I'll look at the library for those books. Identifying beetles proved to be incredibly hard without a proper source to help. If I have anymore questions I'll be sure to email you! Thank you again!
Cari: Please e-mail me at BugEric24ATyahooDOTcom if you want further help. Meanwhile, the two-volume set on "American Beetles" is indispensable. You should have access to it through the university. There are also plenty of experts through the Coleopterist's Society, several who I know personally.
Hello! I notice you found this beetle in Massachusetts. I'm currently working in a lab identifying beetles that were caught in pit fall traps in Harvard forest in Massachusetts as a part of a global warming study. I'm finding a lot of difficulty with this occasionally and I can't post every beetle, especially since many are small and need a microscope to see well. I was wondering if you knew of any good beetle identification keys? Thank you for your help!
