Field Notes

Description:

Katydid nymph on hydrangea. Its antennae were about three times the length of its body...very impressive! Great camouflage, too, even the way it's sitting right in the center of the leaf so its hind legs look like leaf veins.

Habitat:

Hydrangea, garden landscaping, rural deciduous area, Clermont County

Notes:

Fun fact: These katydids usually live high up in the tree tops. This one probably got confused and mistook my 7-foot hydrangea bush for a tree. XD
