Field Notes

Description:

5/8 - 2 1/8 head, thorax, and legs grayish black. Slender waist between abdomen and thorax, rest of abdomen swollen, partly orange or reddish. Smoky wings.

Habitat:

Open areas, on the ground or occasionally on clustered flowers.

Notes:

Not sure of the type of caterpillar it has. Please help identify.
