Field Notes

Habitat:

frequent vegetated habitats such as brushy thickets, lowland cypress swamps, bottomland woods, and ravines choked with hemlock and rhododendron. They gravitate toward shrubby, wooded residential areas, overgrown farmland, dilapidated buildings, and brushy suburban yards.

Notes:

This wren was in the process of making a nest in the folds of a curtain in my friends backyard. It was fun watching it bring nesting material early in the morning and in the late afternoon while I was visiting my friend this summer.
