This looks consistent with a Chinese Mantis. Please consider adding this to the Marvelous Mantids of the World mission: http://www.projectnoah.org/missions/15738247
Could also be Chinese Mantid (Tenodera sinensis). Hard to tell without seeing it's "armpits". http://bugguide.net/node/view/12409 The European has a very distinctive spot on "armpits" http://bugguide.net/node/view/699828/bgimage They both occur in your state.
